Origins of "Almost Fiction"

It all began when I was a kid, enchanted by my grandpa’s incredible tales. I’d always wonder, “What if the hero could fly?” or “What if the villain turned good?” That curiosity has fueled my imagination ever since.

Here’s a fun tidbit: my brothers had this old, red notebook filled with stories they clipped from newspapers and magazines. I read it so many times, the pages were practically falling apart. I still have it tucked away somewhere!

Back in 2010, I started scribbling down my own story ideas—nothing fancy, just random thoughts, from quick short stories to wild sci-fi plots. They never really went anywhere, just lingered in my notebook. During the pandemic, I even tried writing some of them out, but—spoiler alert—I didn’t finish. Still, the passion never faded!

Mid 2024, a friend shared a beautiful little story on Twitter, and it reignited my spark. I dug out my old notes and thought, “Why not give this another shot?” and that what turned into “Almost Fiction” on Substack.
